Olympic Park

Entering (great British weather- 'it's not rain, just mist' was what one of the volunteers told us!  It definitely was RAIN about half and hour later!!):
A marching band!

The aquatics centre (just when we thought we had gone up high enough and couldn't possibly go any further there was another 5 or 6 rounds of stairs!):
Outside of the athletics track (in the relative sunshine):
The Orbit:
 The Royal Barge:
Big screens in the Olympic Park:

Have you got the fever?

I certainly have got Olympic fever!  This is from the Brazil v. Egypt match 26/07/2012 in the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

And these are from the swimming heats this morning:

A once in a lifetime experience that I'm so glad I had.

Funny Christmas

I love this image!  I will enter this card into this weeks Passion  for Promarkers (farm animals), Willow Sketchie (sketch and theme- Christmas) and Waste not Wednesday (all the papers are scraps) challenges.
I'm off in an hour and won't be around for about 2 weeks.  Ten days of Summer School and then I have tickets to watch the swimming at the Olympics.  So it will be a while until I'm back and crafting again.  Enjoy the sunshine- summer is meant to be here in the UK at last!

Not a card

This weeks ABC Christmas challenge is 'n is for not a card'. I have made two gift tags using this super freebie from Digistamp Boutique.  The image was printed multiple times, coloured with PMs and then spray with gold glitter varnish before decoupaging up.  The base card for the tags is actually the card board box Mum's birthday present came in.
I will also enter these into this months CCAYR (Christmas flowers/foliage) and this weeks I love Promarkers (sparkle), Willow Sketchie (Christmas in July) and DigiDoodle Shops Best (anything goes) challenges.

Giraffes

I printed this image ages ago and keep wanting to make a cad with it, but not deciding how best to do it- baby or love/anniversary??  Opted for baby in the end since I was sorting through my stash and starting admiring these papers with the ducks on.  I thought instead of just having them sat there in a packet being admired that they really should have an outing- lol!
I will enter the card into this weeks Sweet Sketch Wednesday (sketch), Waste not Wednesday (both papers and image have been in my stash unused for a long time!), and Digi Doodle Shops Best (anything goes) challenges.

Have I over done it?

Can you guess I'm ever so slightly excited about going to the Olympics?  These are two ATCs along that theme.  The background is the London Underground map.  Hope you like them :-)

Fly a Kite

This is another digi that I bought from Pollycraft before the shop shut and not used yet.  I love the Cuthbert and Kiki range.  Sorry the photo is so bad- the colours are not that muted in reality.  The light must have been worse than I thought when I took the photo :-(
I will enter the card into this weeks Cute Card Thursday (sketch) and Digi doodle Shops Best (summer) challenges and this months Ready Teddy Go (up, up and away) challenge.

Diving!

Continuing my pledge to make a start on Christmas presents, I have made another calendar for 2013 this week.
I will enter this into this weeks Willow Sketchie challenge (sketch).

Happy Retirement

Dad's cousin emailed me the other day.  I hadn't heard from him for ages, but then that was partly my fault as well. Anyway he has decided to retire- a bit of a quick decision but they offered him a very good package and he would retire in a years time anyway.  So I needed to make a card.  Hope he isn't offended by the image.  I'm sure he won't spend all his time watching TV now, but he can if he wants to- the beauty of retirement being that you can do what you want when you want!
I will enter the card into this weeks Sweet Sketch Wednesday (sketch) and I love Promarkers (circles) challenges.

For You

I bought some Cats Life Press stamps a few weeks ago and thought I got one out yesterday.  This card is a bit of a break from the norm for me.  The papers are Pink Petticoat.  I will enter the card into this weeks MAWTT challenge (make it sentimental).

Weddings

I thought I'd make a wedding card today- I have a number of friends who are off to weddings soon and so they can have the card.  The image is from Digistamp Boutique and I will enter the card into this weeks Di's Digidownloads challenge (flowers).

What rain!

It has been one very wet week here and I thought I'd make a couple ATCs which reflect the weather.

Softball

Ok, can a girl ever make too many cards?  NO!
Another Olympic inspired card.  This time I have taken the colours from the London 2012 logo- turquoise and orange- have you noticed that version of the logo?  I always think it looks quite striking.  The image is from Stampfairy. I think it is actually a baseball image, but since baseball is not an Olympic sport but softball is, I'll say it is a softball image for now ;-)  Not that I really know what softball is!
I will enter the card into this weeks Sweet Sketch Wednesday (sketch) and Digidoodle Shops Best (sports) challenges.

Happy Holidays

I know this DigiStamp Boutique image is actually for moving house, but it reminds me of childhood holidays. We always went camping and had so much stuff to take that it was piled high on the roof rack.  I decided to make this card in memory of those holidays.  I will enter the card into this weeks Willow Sketchie challenge (sketch).
The papers are all offcuts from a large 12x12 sheet which I have finally finished.  Even the matting paper is offcuts.  I think i have done fairly well with using up bits and pieces!

2013 Calendar already!

This weeks ABC Christmas challenge is 'm is for make a Christmas present'.  I was really not in the mood for making a Christmas present- a card yes, but a present at this stage in the year seemed too hard.  Then I realised that since I will be away in September and then from November onwards, this gives me hardly any time and so perhaps I should start making presents.  Last year I made several calendars and they went down well, so I got some 2013 calendar tabs last Saturday and have made my first calendar for 2013!
I will enter the project into this weeks Passion for Promarkers (sketch) challenge and this months Ready Teddy Go (balloons) challenge.

What inspires you?

For July I am running an ATC swap for the CMLI group on Craftbubble.  The theme is 'whatever inspires you'.  This is an ATC I made today.  As a PhD student in Computational Chemistry, this is what inspires me:

Happy Anniversary

Oops, left this one a bit late to do.  It's Mum and Dad's anniversary soon but I have to give Mum the card to take with her to France on Tuesday as they won't be back beforehand.
I will enter the card into this weeks Willow Sketchie (sketch) and I love Promarkers (anything goes) challenges.

Dreaming of sunshine

Well if there is no sun outside, I'll just have to pretend it is summer!  I will enter this card into this weeks Passion for Promarkers (ice cream or cakes), I love Promarkers (anything goes), Di's digi downloads (summer) and Sweet Sketch Wednesday (sketch) challenges.

The Torch in Earlswood

Mum and I went early this morning to see the Olympic torch pass through Earlswood, Solihull, West Midlands, UK.  It perhaps would have been closer to go into Solihull itself to see the torch, but this was a little too early for a Sunday (7am-ish).  As it was we set off at 8am to get there an hour early so we got a good view.
There were a few sponsorship floats/coaches which passed through first and then a police motorcade and two coaches with the torchbearer and runners inbetween.  The flame most definitely was alight when it passed but you can't tell from these photos.
Have you been to see the torch pass near you or are you going to go?  I would recommend it.
